…and by "us" I mean me and my husband Alex and the other 18,000 same sex marriages that were legally performed prior to November 4. The Yes on 8 campaign wants to invalidate 18,000 same sex marriages – they've filed a brief with the California Supreme Court to that effect today.
The sponsors of Proposition 8 asked the California Supreme Court on Friday to nullify the marriages of the estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who exchanged vows before voters approved the ballot initiative that outlawed gay unions.
The Yes on 8 campaign filed a brief arguing that because the new law holds that only marriages between a man and a woman are recognized or valid in California, the state can no longer recognize the existing same-sex unions.
"Proposition 8's brevity is matched by its clarity. There are no conditional clauses, exceptions, exemptions or exclusions," reads the brief co-written by Pepperdine University law school dean Kenneth Starr, the former independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton….
The measure's backers announced Friday that Starr, a former federal judge and U.S. solicitor general, had signed on as their lead counsel and would argue the cases.
Remember how so many people in the Yes on 8 movement said they weren't interested in going after the marriages that already had been performed? More lies in the avalanche of lies that came from the Yes-on-8 bigots.
Aren't these people supposed to be against divorce? Now they are filing a suit to direct the state to divorce me? THIS SUCKS.
I haven't told HP. He is across the room playing on his Macbook and he looks so happy.
I'm not going to tell him. No reason to share this misery.

the tenacity of the hate always amazes my naive self.
What the hell is wrong with these people? I mean really…do they REALLY believe this the right thing to do?
All the money invested in this campaign against same sex marriage could have been used for something worthwhile like a new homeless shelter or soup kitchen. It could have been donated to a good cause instead of trying to exterminate the basic human right to be happy with the person you love. What a bunch of hypocrites and bigots these Proposition 8 people are.
